Villa Travignoli is situated in the Rufina region of the northeastern hills of Chianti. The vines enjoy southern exposure and calcareous soils, with an altitude ranging from 250 to 400 meters. All day sun exposure and cool evening winds extend maturation to create balanced complexity in the wines. Villa Travignoli cultivates seventy hectares of vineyards of primarily Sangiovese grapes, but also including varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay. Records connect the estate with wine production back to 1100 A.D. Today, recognized as one of Italy’s most antique enterprises, the winery is run by Giovanni Busi and the Busi family.
